There are many jobs performed indoors that can also raise your risk of experiencing heat stress. Operations involving high air temperatures, radiant heat sources, high humidity, direct physical contact with hot objects or strenuous physical activities can all contribute to heat stress. Other factors that can affect how susceptible you are to heat-related illnesses include your age, weight, degree of physical fitness, use of alcohol or medications as well as a variety of medical conditions. Dehydration can also affect the body’s response to heat.
