There are a few things you can do to prevent heat-related illnesses, including:

• Block direct sunlight and/or heat sources whenever possible.
• Wear lightweight, light-colored, loose-fitting clothing when working in extreme heat.
• Be aware that it takes time for the body to adapt to working in the heat (acclimatization).
• If possible, perform heavy work during the coolest part of the day.
