Companies to Pay a Price for Coronavirus-Related Safety Violations
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has taken an aggressive stance when it comes to citing companies for coronavirus-related safety violations. As of early November, the agency issued citations arising from 179 violations. Proposed fines total $2,496,768.
Among the violations found during recent inspections, include the failure to:
- Implement a written respiratory protection program
- Provide a medical evaluation, respirator fit test, training on the proper use of a respirator and personal protective equipment
- Report an injury, illness or fatality
- Record an injury or illness on OSHA recordkeeping forms
- Comply with the General Duty Clause of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970
